NEW YORK (GenomeWeb News) – The Monell Center has won a $2 million grant from the National Institute on Deafness and Other Communication Disorders to support a range of research approaches, including PCR-based genotyping studies, in its core facilities.
The Philadelphia center focuses its research on the mechanisms and functions of taste and smell, and this five-year grant will support three research cores, including the Genotyping and DNA/RNA Analysis Core.
This core lab will provide training and research support and will be stocked with three real-time PCR machines and a NanoDrop spectrophotometer. Researchers will use these tools to identify genetic variations related to taste and smell, as well as gene mapping and nucleic acid analysis.
