ERASYSBIO+ has agreed to fund projects involving a total of 85 research groups from 14 countries. Those partner countries provided a total €18.5 million of the funding, with the remaining €5.5 million coming from the European Union.

The Sage grant is the first CCSB award that has been disclosed. According to a request for applications for the program issued last year, NCI plans to commit a total of approximately $22.5 million per year to fund up to nine centers for up to five years.

The non-profit institute will use $6.7 million to establish an NCI Integrative Cancer Biology Program Center.

The institute, which is part of the Wisconsin Institutes for Discovery, is in the process of completing a $205 million, 300,000-square-foot facility within the UW-Madison campus. An official said that systems biology and computational biology will play key roles.

The $4.5 million in grants will support research that uses 'omics data to understand HIV/AIDS and substance abuse.

The findings help validate Therasis' bioinformatics and systems biology approach to reconstructing maps of regulatory networks in specific cancer cell types.

These studies will take a systems biology approach to discover gene networks and pathways linked to lung-microbe interactions.

The funding from the three countries will use informatics to study systems involved in seed germination.
