breath-based diagnostics
Avelo, Vivolta, Blink Win €1.5M Grant for Breath-Based Lower Respiratory Tract Infection Test
The test will use a proprietary filter technology and a point-of-care digital PCR analyzer to detect pathogens and resistance genes, as well as distinguish bacterial and viral infections.
The firm has licensed technology from Imec that captures breath aerosols. Imec also conducted early development of MiDiagnostics' qPCR instrument.
The breathalyzer test contains an enzymatic reaction mixture that changes RNA to DNA, which can then be run through a traditional PCR instrument.
