NEW YORK (GenomeWeb News) – Stratos Genomics today announced that it has raised $4 million through a Series A financing led by Fisk Ventures and including Stratos Group LLC.
The Seattle-based firm said that it would use the proceeds to continue developing its ultra-low-cost nucleic acid sequencing method for whole-genome analysis and molecular diagnostic applications. Stratos Genomics, which is a spinoff of Stratos Group, has developed a single-molecule sequencing method called "sequencing by expansion."
"The Stratos Genomics technology has the potential to revolutionize personalized medicine and bring genome sequencing technology to all," Stephen Rose, Managing Director of Fisk Ventures, said. "If our goals are realized, Stratos Genomics will have a huge impact on life sciences."
Following the investment, Rose has joined the board of directors of Stratos Genomics.
