NEW YORK (GenomeWeb) – By sequencing patient-derived neurons, researchers have identified a protein that regulates Parkinson's disease phenotypes at the cellular level.

Parkinson's disease — which is marked by motor symptoms like rigidity and tremors — affects more than 6 million people around the world. While most cases of Parkinson's disease are idiopathic, some are due to variants in the GBA gene, particularly the N370S mutation.
