Ryan Lister has been appointed to professor of computational biology at the University of Western Australia, where he will head his own research laboratory that will focus on using next-generation sequencing, genomic, biochemical, and computational techniques to study plant and animal epigenomics.

Prior to moving to UWA, Lister worked at the Salk Institute in Joe Ecker's lab, where he focused on epigenetics, and was lead author of a study that sequenced the methylome, mRNA transcriptome, and small RNA transcriptome of Arabidopsis thaliana.

He holds a BS in biochemistry and genetics and a PhD in biochemistry from UWA.
