Bacterial typing systems developer PathoGenetix has hired Paul Krassnoff to be director of manufacturing. In this post, he will develop production and quality assurance systems for the firm's Genome Sequence Scanning System.
Krassnoff formerly was director of lab operations and manufacturing at Aushon Biosystems. He also worked at Alpo Diagnostics, Genzyme Diagnostics, BioMérieux, and Baxter-Dade. He holds a BS in chemistry from Boston University and an MS in biomedical science from Northeastern University.
Lance Price, a professor at the Translational Genomics Research Institute, has been named to serve on the National Advisory Committee on Microbiological Criteria for Foods, which is chartered by the US Department of Agriculture's Food Safety Inspection Service. He is director of the Center for Food Microbiology and Environmental Health in TGen's Pathogen Genomics Division, where he uses genomic epidemiology to study foodborne pathogens.
HealthTell, a Chandler, Ariz.-based personalized medicine startup, has named David Smith vice president of operations. Smith previously held senior leadership positions at biotech firms including Affymetrix, 454 Life Sciences, and Codon Devices.
