Rubicon Genomics has hired Kenneth Solomon as director of sales and marketing. He has previously held positions at Centocor Ortho Biotech, Pharmacia/Searle, Biomet, and Boehringer Manheim. He holds an MBA from Michigan State University and a BA from Calvin College.

DNAnexus has appointed Marc Olesen as president and chief operating officer to help the company as it readies the commercial launch of its new genomic data management and analysis platform.

Olesen was most recently senior vice president and general manager of network and cloud security for McAfee. He was also vice president of software-as-a-service for Mercury Interactive, which was acquired by Hewlett-Packard. He holds a BA in economics and an MS in industrial engineering from Stanford University.
