Paired Ends: Ken Kershner, Omar Serang


DNAnexus has appointed Ken Kershner to vice president of engineering and Omar Serang to chief cloud officer, a newly created position.

Kershner will be responsible for leading development and product quality teams at DNAnexus. He joins the company from MobileIron, where he was vice president of engineering and operations. He has also held roles at Dash Navigation, TiVo, TenTV, Silicon Graphics, and Hewlett Packard. He holds an MBA from the Sloan School of Management at MIT and a BS in electrical engineering from Duke University.

As chief cloud officer, Serang will be responsible for driving product development roadmaps and managing compliance and integration efforts, as well as for designing and implementing cloud security and governance features.

He joins DNAnexus from Amazon Web Services. Previously, he held positions at Topsy Labs, Cloudmark, and Critical Path. He holds a BS from the University of California, Berkeley.
