Roche has launched new software for its 454 GS FLX+ sequencing system. The new software package, v2.8, improves long-read shotgun sequencing performance by increasing average and modal read lengths.

Agilent Technologies has launched SureSelect Human All-Exon V5 and V5 +UTRs kits for next-generation sequencing. The new kits require 4 gigabases of total sequencing, which the company said represents up to 60 percent less sequencing than competing human exome offerings. Agilent said the kits can also produce exome samples that are ready for sequencing the next day.

DNA Genotek has launched GenoFind Genomic Services, a DNA extraction service that is optimized for oral samples collected with DNA Genotek's Oragene products.

IntegenX has launched a directional mRNA library preparation kit for next-generation sequencing. The kit runs on the company's Apollo 324 system for automated library prep and requires 500 picograms of starting mRNA. The kit is compatible with Illumina, Life Technologies' Ion Torrent, and Roche's 454 sequencers.
