Pacific Biosciences has launched new sequencing chemistry that includes its P5 polymerase and C3 chemistry to achieve average read lengths of 8,500 bases with the longest reads over 30,000 bases. The new P5-C3 chemistry includes photo-protected dyes, which protect the polymerase from laser damage and enable the longer reads. The latest release also includes protocols to create 20,000-base size-selected libraries that are optimized for use with the Sage Science BluePippin DNA size selection system and an upgraded version of the SMRT Analysis software with the HGAP2 assembler.
