New Products: LifeCodexx's PraenaTest; Almac's Sequencing Services

GATC Biotech subsidiary LifeCodexx has launched PraenaTest, a noninvasive, sequencing-based test to detect fetal trisomy 21. The CE-marked test is available in 70 prenatal clinics and hospitals in Germany, Austria, Liechtenstein, and Switzerland. LifeCodexx licensed the rights to the sequencing-based detection method from Sequenom.

Almac is now offering next-generation sequencing services in its CLIA-certified laboratory. The company said it will initially offer targeted resequencing services on the Illumina MiSeq. The service is particularly geared toward pharmaceutical companies developing molecular diagnostic tests and companion diagnostics.
