SoftGenetics has launched a new module for its NextGene software that enables the analysis of small RNA molecules from short-read sequences. The module, in combination with the company's Condensation Tool, uses sequencing reads from second-generation sequencing systems, including the Illumina GA, ABI SOLiD, and Roche/454 GS FLX, to "statistically polish the data and increase the base call accuracy up to 99.5 percent," according to the company. The module also contains embedded applications for SNP and indel detection, transcriptome analysis, ChIP-Seq, DGE/SAGE, and de novo assembly.
