SoftGenetics has added a size-calling technology to its GeneMarker software that it says helps obtain accurate sizes for DNA. The new technology exceeds the traditional local Southern and cubic spline sizing methods, which are local and do not project beyond the last fragment, according to the company. It is applicable to a variety of molecular diagnostic techniques, such as multiplex ligation-dependent probe amplification analysis, amplified fragment length polymorphism, T-RFLP, VNTR, BAC fingerprinting, and STR human identity analyses. SoftGenetics offers 30-day trials and free web-based training on GeneMarker and all of its genetic analysis software.
