NewGene has launched a test for hereditary breast cancer. The test identifies all mutations in the coding regions of BRCA1 and BRCA2, which are associated with inherited breast cancer. The test combines sequencing on the Roche 454 GS FLX and genotyping on Sequenom's MassArray system. According to the company, it also plans to offer tumor marker tests for metastatic colon and lung cancers, and hemato-oncology tests.
