John Quackenbush, David Liu, David Wellis, Michael McManus, Claude Hughes

Helicos Biosciences recently added John Quackenbush and David Liu to its scientific advisory board.
 
Quackenbush is a professor of biostatistics and computational biology at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and a professor of biology and bioinformatics at HarvardUniversity’s School of Public Health.
 
Liu is a professor of chemistry and chemical biology at Harvard University, and an associate member of the Broad Institute of Harvard and MIT.
 

 
David Wellis was appointed as CEO of GenVault in mid-December, the company said last week.
 
Wellis was promoted from senior vice president of marketing and sales, a position he held since December 2004. He joined the firm in 2002 as VP of business development and marketing.
 
Before joining GenVault, Wellis was VP of functional genomics at Axon Instruments.
 

 
Sequence analysis software company Gene-IT has hired Michael McManus as vice president and general manager, the company said last week. McManus will handle corporate marketing, strategic alliances and product marketing, the company said.
 
McManus previously was in charge of US development at the Biosciences Group at Fujitsu, and he had been a VP and chief operating officer at AnVil and a VP of marketing and business development at CambridgeSoft.
 

 
RTI International said last week that Claude Hughes has joined as vice president for the Partnership for Genomics and Molecular Epidemiology and as chief medical officer.     
 
Before coming to RTI, Hughes was executive director of medical and scientific services at Quintiles.
