Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory’s board of trustees has suspended the administrative responsibilities of Jim Watson, CSHL’s chancellor, “pending further deliberation,” the board said last week. The decision follows an article about Watson that appeared in the Oct. 14 edition of The Sunday Times in which he made racist remarks regarding the intelligence of people of African descent. Watson recently had his genome sequenced by 454 Life Sciences.
