NEW YORK (GenomeWeb) – Human Longevity will be offering discounts on its HLIQ Whole Genome sequencing to customers and employees of Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance, and financial professionals associated with that company.
The test will be available for $1,400, an unspecified discount, to existing MassMutual customers as of yesterday, and runs until March 14, 2018.
Gareth Ross, chief digital and customer experience officer for MassMutual, called the agreement "cutting-edge" and said in a statement that it was "unlike anything else in our industry." HLI CEO Cynthia Collins added that her firm believes genomics will "play an increasingly important role across a variety of business sectors including insurance."
The HLIQ Whole Genome product, which must be ordered by the individual's physician, includes comprehensive sequencing and analysis.
The firms said that MassMutual will not receive any data whatsoever from HLI, and that the insurer is not paying or subsidizing the cost of the test.
Customers and their physicians who order the test will receive an electronic version of the test report and a printable file of their entire genome.
