HT-BLIS, Multiple-Deletion Strain 42 Competent Cells

Biotique Systems has launched HT-BLIS, an enterprise-scale informatics environment for integrating, analyzing, and sharing data generated by second-generation sequencing platforms. HT-BLIS allows researchers to process, in real time, data being generated by high-throughput genomic analysis systems such as Applied Biosystems' SOLiD system, Helicos BioSciences' HeliScope sequencer, Illumina's Genome Analyzer, and Roche's Genome Sequencer FLX system.

Scarab Genomics has launched Multiple-Deletion Strain 42 competent E. coli cells. The company claims they are the only commercially available competent cells with a completely sequenced and analyzed genome. About 15 percent of nonessential genetic elements have been removed from the genome, improving transformation efficiency and protein expression.
