Helix Inks Deal to Use OraSure's Saliva Collection Kits and Logistics Services

NEW YORK (GenomeWeb) – OraSure Technologies said today that consumer genomics firm Helix will use its OrageneDx device for sample collection and its GenoFind offering for logistics services. OraSure's wholly-owned subsidiary DNA Genotek will supply the devices and services.

Helix will use the OrageneDx device to collect saliva samples from its customers, which it will then sequence in its laboratory.

"Reliable and easy-to-use sample collection is a key part of our offering," James Lu, co-founder and senior vice president of applied genomics at Helix, said in a statement. "The ability to collect a high-quality DNA sample for next generation sequencing is critical to ensuring accurate results for our customers."

OrageneDx is an all-in-one system for self-collection of DNA from saliva. The device enables the sample to be stored and transported at room temperature. It also has US Food and Drug Administration 510(k) clearance. GenoFind is a suite of genomics and microbiome services that includes all the steps from study design through bioinformatics analysis and interpretation.
