NEW YORK (GenomeWeb) — Gencove said today that it has closed a $3 million financing round.
The round was led by Spero Ventures and included Alexandria Venture Investments, Burst Capital, Third Kind Venture Capital, and Version One Ventures. In conjunction with the financing, Spero Partner Shripriya Mahesh is joining Gencove's board.
Gencove, a spinout of the New York Genome Center, said it will use the funding to develop its technologies for new applications in agriculture, as well as expand its commercial operations in human genetics. The company's primary offerings include low-pass sequencing and analytics software services.
Earlier this year, New York City-based Gencove signed deals for its low-pass sequencing technology with Onegevity Health and SeqWell.
