NEW YORK (GenomeWeb) – Eurofins Genomics announced today that its laboratory in Louisville, Kentucky has received accreditation from the College of American Pathologists and CLIA certification.
The facility was opened earlier this year as the central genomics lab in North America for Eurofins Genomics' parent company Eurofins Scientific, offering custom DNA and RNA oligonucleotide production, synthetic gene synthesis, and genomic services such as DNA sequencing, synthetic biology, and next-generation sequencing. The lab is also planning to introduce new synthesis technology, and houses other activities such as food and microbiology testing.
"The new clinical laboratory gains the sequencing expertise already in place at Eurofins Genomics in Louisville ... and will initially focus on Sanger sequencing services for other clinical laboratories that require sequencing performed in CLIA and CAP regulatory environments," Eurofins Genomics President Martin Kunz said in a statement. "Further, as we launch our new oligo synthesis service, customers developing NGS assays can benefit from a one-stop shop that offers cost savings and convenience in ordering both oligos and Sanger sequencing services for the development of clinical tests."
The company recently opened an early access program for the new DNA synthesis service. While it has already worked with several customers, the firm told GenomeWeb that it is looking for 20 to 30 more partners to get feedback on its new, automated DNA synthesis platform.
