Takara Bio, IDT Form RNA Sequencing Partnership

NEW YORK (GenomeWeb) – Takara Bio USA and Integrated DNA Technologies announced today that they have formed a collaboration to develop new RNA sequencing products.

The companies will combine IDT's oligonucleotide manufacturing expertise with Takara's next-generation sequencing technologies to create probes and kits for low-input, targeted RNA-seq applications.

Additional terms of the arrangement were not disclosed.

"We believe that RNA-seq holds great promise for medical research and diagnostics, as well as for identification of novel therapeutic targets," Lorna Neilson, director of corporate development at Takara, said in a statement.

Takara Bio USA, formerly Clontech Laboratories, is a subsidiary of Japan's Takara Bio.
