NEW YORK (GenomeWeb) – Vitagene, a provider of personalized supplement regimens based on an individual's genomic makeup and other factors, announced today that it has raised $5.5 million in seed funding.
The investment round was led by Spectrum 28 and included Viking Global Investors, Netflix Chief Product Officer Neil Hunt, Yahoo CFO Ken Goldman, and venture capitalist Yuri Milner. In December, the company received an undisclosed amount of financing from Illumina Accelerator.
Vitagene currently markets a supplement regimen, offered via through participating physicians, that is based on a customer's individual health profile.
"No other founding team or company in the space is better positioned to transform the supplement category," Spectrum 28 General Partner Lyon Wong said in a statement. "The adoption of Vitagene's platform by leading physicians is a direct result of the company's science-backed approach."
