Two manuscript pages handwritten by Charles Darwin are coming up for auction this week, the Los Angeles Times reports.

One is a signed page from the conclusion of "On the Origin of Species." According to the LA Times, it became page 514 of the third edition of the book and was likely written in 1859. Darwin gave the page to Hermann Kindt, the editor of the "Autographic Mirror," a few years later. The starting bid for this slice of evolutionary history is to be $675,000, the paper adds.

Also on the auction block is a page from a handwritten draft of Darwin's 1862 book "Fertilisation of Orchids" in which he discusses the co-evolution of orchids and insects. Bids on this page begin at $95,000, the LA Times adds.

The LA auction house Nate D. Sanders Auctions will be selling the pages Thursday afternoon and bids may be made online, according to the paper.
