Suit for Chair

Carlo Croce, the Ohio State University cancer researcher who has faced allegations of research misconduct, is suing to be reinstated as department chair, Retraction Watch reports.

The New York Times reported last year that Croce's work had been subject to a series of misconduct allegations over the years but that all investigations had been closed, though the Times found that some journals had issued corrections or retractions for some articles on which Croce was an author. Croce denied the allegations of wrongdoing and sued the Times for defamation, though the suit was largely dismissed.

Still, Croce was forced out as department chair in November. And now Retraction Watch says Croce has filed a lawsuit to reclaim that position. The suit says that OSU didn't follow proper procedures in removing Croce as chair, according to Retraction Watch. In particular, it alleges that the school's dean of the College of Medicine did not consult, as is required, with the faculty.
