Developers in New York City are increasingly interested in converting offices, car showrooms, and factories to lab space for the life sciences, the New York Times reports.

It notes that New York has been seeking to establish itself as a biotech hub and that the COVID-19 pandemic — which has led to increased office space availability due to work-from-home orders — has boosted funding for developing life science lab space.
