NEW YORK — Purigen Biosystems said on Thursday that it has signed a distribution deal for its Ionic automated nucleic acid purification system and related microfluidic kits in Portugal and Spain with Bonsai Lab.
Under the terms of the deal, Madrid-based Bonsai will have the exclusive right to market the products in the two countries. Financial and other terms were not disclosed.
The benchtop Ionic system, which received CE marking in early 2021, uses isotachophoresis to extract, purify, and concentrate RNA and DNA from a variety of sample types, including cultured cells and formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded tissues.
In January, Pleasanton, California-based Purigen signed on the Institute of Applied Biotechnologies to distribute the system in the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Romania, and Slovakia.
