NEW YORK (GenomeWeb News) – Polyplus-transfection said today that it has raised €2.5 million ($3.2 million) in financing from new and existing shareholders.
The company raised €1 million from Alsace Inter Regio Fonds d'Investissment and €500,000 from Sudinnova, both new investors. The remaining €1 million was from previous investors CIC Vizille Capital Innovation and CIC Finance.
The Strasbourg, France-based company plans to use the new funding to upgrade its research and development resources, particularly for its siRNA delivery technologies. The company also plans to hire 10 new researchers and lab technicians, which would bring its total headcount to 40.
The firm said that the new research areas it is enhancing include its siRNA delivery efforts in lung and prostate cancer models.
