Firefly BioWorks has appointed University of Massachusetts Medical School researcher Victor Ambros to its scientific advisory board.

Ambros is a director of UMass Medical's RNA Therapeutics Institute and identified the first microRNA in 1993. He was a co-recipient of the 2008 Albert Lasker Award for Basic Medical Research for the discovery.
