RXi Pharmaceuticals has promoted two officials and made one new hire.

The company promoted Stephen DiPalma from chief financial officer to executive vice president of business operations and chief financial officer; and named Joanne Kamens, formerly director of discovery research, as senior director of discovery research.

RXi also hired Ramani Varanasi as vice president of business development. Ramani was most recently head of business development at Archemix. She has also served as director of business development at Millennium Pharmaceuticals and director of corporate development at Momenta Pharmaceuticals.
