Arrowhead Research, the parent company of Calando Pharmaceuticals and minority owner of Leonardo Biosystems, has appointed Mauro Ferrari to its board of directors.

Ferrari is currently Arrowhead's scientific advisory chairman, a position he will resign when he joins the board. He is also a professor of experimental therapeutics at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center and a professor of bioengineering at Rice University.

Ferrari, a co-founder of Leonardo, was recently named president and CEO of The Methodist Hospital Research Institute in Houston.
