Marina Biotech said last week that it has received a notice of allowance from the US Patent and Trademark Office for a patent application that covers a library of novel peptides.
The application, No. 20080096769, is entitled “Phage-Displayed TRP Cage Ligands,” and is part of Marina's Trp cage library patent portfolio.
"A primary advantage of this patented peptide library is the ability to rapidly screen and identify novel peptides that exhibit cell specific targeting characteristics for directed delivery of nucleic acid therapeutics," Barry Polisky, chairman of the company's scientific advisory panel, said in a statement.
