Leonardo Receives Second Half of $2.5M Grant

Premium

Leonardo Biosystems said this week that it has received the second half of a $2.5 million grant from the Texas Emerging Technology Fund to help develop its multi-stage drug-delivery technology.

The first half of the grant was received in April 2010.

The drug-delivery technology involves a multi-stage system comprising mesoporous silicon particles containing neutral nanoliposomes carrying a drug payload.

Last year, Gene Silencing News reported that the company was aiming to use the grant funding to help ramp up its operations so that it could establish industry partnerships (GSN 10/27/2010).
