Hiroyuki Mitani has been appointed president and CEO of GE Healthcare Technologies, Japan.

Mitani joined GE Japan in 1992 as director of business development. Prior to his current role, he served as general manager of marketing and sales for GE Transportation, Japan. In 1996, he served as general manager of marketing and sales for GE Energy, Japan.

Mitani received his MS in operations research from Stanford University, and an MS in mechanical engineering from the University of California, Berkeley. He received a BS in mechanical engineering from the University of Tokyo.

Ambion has recently introduced the MagMax-96 blood RNA isolation kit.

According to the company, the kit uses technology that binds RNA more efficiently than glass fiber filter methods, resulting in higher RNA yields. Additionally, the kit eliminates filter clogging due to cellular particulates in samples experienced with glass fiber filter-based RNA isolation methods.
