Gary Mecklenburg and Henry Becton, Jr.


Becton Dickinson said this week that it has elected Gary Mecklenburg to the company’s board of directors.

Mecklenburg is currently President and CEO of Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago. Prior to joining Northwestern Memorial, he was President and CEO of St. Joseph’s Hospital and Franciscan Health Care in Milwaukee, Wisc., and he served as administrator at Stanford University Hospital and Clinics.

Mecklenburg holds a BA from Northwestern University and an MBA from the University of Chicago.

BD also said it has designated Henry Becton, Jr., as its board’s lead director.

Becton will succeed Frank Olsen, who has been lead director since the position was created in 2002, said the company.

Becton has been a member of BD’s board since 1987.
