Amit Kumar, Harald zur Hausen, Patrick Weiss, and Howard Sampson


Amit Kumar has joined the board of directors of Incara Pharmaceuticals, the Research Triangle Park, NC-based company said today. He is president and CEO as well as a director of CombiMatrix.

Kumar received a PhD from the California Institute of Technology and a bachelor's degree in chemistry from Occidental College in Los Angeles. He completed his postdoctoral studies at Harvard University in Cambridge, Mass.

Harald zur Hausen has joined the scientific advisory board of the German Resource Center for Genome Research, RZPD, in Berlin.

Patrick Weiss has become the CEO of Operon Biotechnologies following the synthetic DNA business’ sale by Qiagen. Weiss, who led the team of former Qiagen management members acquiring Operon, previously served as Qiagen’s vice president of gene silencing.

Vista Medical Technologies has appointed Howard Sampson as its new CFO.

Vista said that Sampson has been a consultant to the company since January. Previously, he served as CFO of Immune Response Corporation and Genta. Sampson, said Vista, is a CPA.
