Guillaume Bouhours

BioMérieux has appointed Guillaume Bouhours as corporate vice-president, CFO, and a member of its executive committee. He replaces Claire Giraut, who is retiring, and will head the firm's finance, purchasing, and information systems departments. Bouhours was previously CFO at Faiveley Transport, a railway equipment manufacturer based in France.

Veracyte has named Alfred Bowie Jr. as vice president of corporate and business development where he will lead the company's strategic planning process. Previously, Bowie led strategic planning, corporate development and competitive intelligence at Foundation Medicine, a Roche subsidiary, and served in corporate and business development positions at Tecan Group and Danaher Corporation. He has also worked in management consulting at the Boston Consulting Group.

Darrin Crisitello, Nigel Beard, Marcel Roche

Mission Bio has appointed three members to its executive team, including Darrin Crisitello as chief commercial officer, Nigel Beard as senior VP of research and development, and Marcel Roche as senior VP of Finance and Administration.

Prior to Mission Bio, Crisitello led global clinical teams at Color Genomics and Natera. Crisitello has over 19 years of experience in commercial leadership and business development.

With experience in next-generation sequencing, microfluidics, artificial intelligence, and machine learning, Beard has launched more than 50 products and has been inventor on more than 40 patents. He has previously worked firms such as GlaxoSmithKline and Life Technologies, as well as startups like Feetz.

Prior to Mission Bio, Roche served as VP of finance at Achaogen and at Guardant Health.

Piet Houwen, Dirk Zimmermann, Hilde Eylenbosch

Biocartis has announced several changes to its management team. The firm has appointed Piet Houwen as its chief operating officer earlier this month. Prior to joining Biocartis, Houwen served as COO at Ablynx. Before Ablynx, he held global roles for Sanofi/Genzyme and Janssen Pharmaceutica (part of Johnson & Johnson family of companies).

Biocartis has also appointed Dirk Zimmermann as its global head pharma collaborations and partnering. Zimmerman will assume the position at the firm in May. Prior to joining Biocartis, Zimmermann held positions at Roche Diagnostics and Qiagen in product development and corporate venturing.

Biocartis has also let go of Hilde Eylenbosch as the firm's chief commercial officer, effective at the end of April. The firm does not have plans to immediately appoint a new CCO, as it will redistribute the tasks to the company's CEO and senior commercial management.

Andrew Last

Bio-Rad has appointed Andrew Last as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, responsible for all operating functions of the company on a global basis. Last was most recently CCO at Berkeley Lights and prior to that he served as COO at Intrexon Corporation. He was EVP and COO at Affymetrix between 2010 and 2016, and has also previously held senior positions at BD, Applied Biosystems, Incyte Genomics, and Monsanto.

Bahija Jallal

Guardant Health has appointed Bahija Jallal to its Board of Directors, effective April 17. Jallal has served as the CEO of Immunocore Limited, a T cell receptor biotechnology company, since January 2019. Prior to that she served as executive vice president of AstraZeneca PLC and was president of MedImmune, a subsidiary of AstraZeneca after holding various other research and development positions at the company.

Jallal is a member of the of the Board of Trustees of Johns Hopkins University and of UMB Health Sciences Research Park Corporation, and served as past president of the Association for Women in Science.

Joseph Frendo

Caris Life Sciences announced Joseph Frendo has joined the company as chief operations officer. He was senior vice president of PBM Operations at CVS health. Prior to that, he held various management positions at Medco Health Solutions. In his role at Caris, Frendo will direct technical and clinical staff operations and guide strategies to advance quality and optimize efficiences across the firm, Caris said.

Melody Harris

SomaLogic has appointed Melody Harris as the firm's president. Harris joined the firm as its chief legal officer in 2018 from Qualcomm Life. Harris previously served as general counsel at HealthyCircles before it was acquired by Qualcomm. Prior to HealthyCircles, Harris held a variety of executive leadership roles at a consulting firm in the broadcasting space.

Richard Wenstrup

Epic Sciences has appointed Richard Wenstrup as its chief medical officer. Wenstrup has served in several clinical leadership roles managing life science companies in the past 25 years. Before Epic, he previously served as CMO for Oxford Immunotec, where he oversaw research and development, product development, regulatory, medical, and clinical affairs. From 2006 to 2017, Wenstrup served as CMO at Myriad Genetics. Prior to Myriad, Wenstrup was a pediatrics professor in human genetics at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center and professor of biomedical engineering at the University of Cincinnati.

Ori Karev has joined Precipio as chief strategy officer. Karev was formerly CEO of UnitedHealthcare Global, the international division of United Healthcare. He also previously worked for Ernst & Young. An attorney by training, Karev has more than 30 years of experience in the healthcare, insurance, and mobility industries, Precipio said.

Carsten Ullrich

Centogene has appointed Carsten Ullrich its director of artificial intelligence. He will direct the firm's use of AI to enhance diagnostic effectiveness and quality, and to discover new insights, accelerate biomarker development, and drive solutions for drug firms. Ullrich was most recently associate head of a research lab and senior researcher at the German Research Center for Artifidal Intelligence.

Marijn Dekkers has been named chairman of the board of synthetic biology firm Ginkgo Bioworks. He also will serve as a strategic advisor of the Boston-based company. Dekkers most recently served as CEO of Bayer AG, and prior to that was CEO of Thermo Fisher Scientific. He also currently serves as chairman of Unilever and is founder and chairman of Novalis LifeSciences, a boutique investment and advisory firm.

PerkinElmer said recently that Executive Vice President and President of Discovery & Analytical Solution James Corbett is leaving the company on April 30. His departure follows a "conversation" between PerkinElmer and Corbett, the company said in a document filed with the US Securities and Exchange Commission.

Andrew Brooks

Circuit Clinical, an integrated research organization that facilitates clinical trials and biospecimen collection, has added Andrew Brooks to its board of directors. Brooks is currently chief operating officer of RUCDR Infinite Biologics (RUCDR) at Rutgers University, the world's largest academic biorepository managing biological resources for clients such as the National Institutes of Health, as well as leading academic researchers and major pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies. He is a professor of genetics at Rutgers University and a member of the Human Genetics Institute of New Jersey.

Ilan Daskal

Bio-Rad Laboratories has appointed Ilan Daskal as executive vice president and CFO. Daskal previously served as CFO of Lumileds, a lighting manufacturer formed in 1999 as a joint venture between Philips Lighting and Agilent Technologies. He will replace Christine Tsingos, who is retiring.
