LGC SARS-CoV-2 Verification Panel and Reference Materials; Charité ValuPanel Assay Reagents

LGC Seracare has launched new versions of its AccuPlex Verification Panel and Reference Material Kit for SARS-CoV-2 testing. The previous versions contained negative control material targeting the human RNase P gene and positive control material for the viral ORF1a, RdRp, E, and N gene consensus sequences targeted in the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and World Health Organization assays. They have now been expanded to include the S gene region of the virus. 

In addition, LGC Biosearch Technologies has launched new assays in its ValuPanel line. The Charité 2019-nCoV BHQ and BBQ-650 ValuPanel Reagent sets use oligonucleotide sequencedesigned by the German Center for Infection Research (DZIF) at Charité. The firm also now offers US CDC 2019-nCoV BHQ ValuPanel Reagents sets, and continues to offer the 2019-nCoV CDC-qualified Probe and Primer Kits for SARS-CoV-2.

Beckman Coulter Life Sciences has launched the CytoFlex SRT benchtop cell sorter. Features include the ability to distinguish up to 15 fluorescent colors to define populations; four-way sorting; mixed mode sorting; and the ability to catch aborts and preserve precious cells, according to the company's website. The platform goes from startup to sample sorting in less than 30 minutes, and automates sort streat setup and maintenance throughout the sorting process. The platform also features CytExpert SRT software to further increase automation while requiring less supervision for both routine and complex samples, the company said.

Qiagen QiaSphere for QiaStat-Dx

Qiagen has launched its QiaSphere cloud-based platform that will allow labs and users of the company's QiaStat-Dx syndromic molecular testing platform to continually monitor tests and instrument status. The platform can monitor a nearly unlimited number of instruments, providing visibility of testing routines across different hospitals or satellite labs. Customers will be able to receive instrument and test status push notifications across their personal devices, and continuous connectivity will allow Qiagen technical service to monitor instrument health in real time, the company said. Qiagen began marketing and distributing QiaSphere for the QiaCube Connect platform in early 2021.

Rosalind Single-Cell Data Analysis Solution

Rosalind, formerly known as OnRamp Bio, has launched its cloud-based single-cell data analysis solution.

The new analysis module enables web-based collaboration and analysis and interpretation of single-cell data generated on 10X Genomics' Chromium platform. Users can generate and annotate single-cell clusters from FASTQ data files via a graphical user interface and perform downstream analyses.

The module adds to the firm's software-as-a-service bioinformatics platform for multi-omics data, including from RNA-seq, assay for transposase-accessible chromatin by sequencing (ATAC-seq), chromatin immunoprecipitation sequencing (ChIP-seq), and NanoString's nCounter platform.

Rebus Biosystems Esper Platform and High Fidelity Assay

Rebus Biosystems, formerly known as LightSpeed Genomics, has launched its Esper platform for spatial multiomics and its first assay, the Esper High-Fidelity assay for RNA.

The single-molecule fluorescence in situ hybridization (smFISH) platform offers multiplexed detection of genes for hundreds of thousands of cells in less than 48 hours. It uses Rebus' synthetic aperture optics technology to provide subcellular resolution.

The high fidelity assay detects up to 30 RNAs at once.

Veranome Biosystems Pisces

Veranome Biosystems has launched its Pisces technology for in situ spatial omics.

Based on single-molecule fluorescence in situ hybridization (smFISH), Pisces maps gene panels at sub-cellular resolution. It is accompanied by gene panels and a bioinformatics software suite.

The technology is available as a service through Veranome's Pisces partner program.

Vizgen Merscope

Vizgen has announced its Merscope platform for in situ spatial analysis.

The platform is based on multiplexed error-robust fluorescence in situ hybridization (MERFISH) technology developed at Harvard University. It uses combinatorial and error-robust barcoding with sequential imaging to provide nanometer-scale resolution for hundreds of genes.

The automated instrument is accompanied by validated and custom gene panels, reagents and consumables, and data visualization software.

Purigen Biosystems Ionic FFPE Complete Purification Kit

Purigen Biosystems has launched the Ionic FFPE Complete Purification Kit, which enables users to consistently recover both DNA and RNA simultaneously from formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded tissue samples in a single workflow. Purigen said that the workflow reduces hands-on time by as much as 75 percent compared to manual column or bead-based methods. The kit uses the company's Ionic Purification System, a benchtop instrument that uses isotachophoresis and so-called Ionic Fluidic Chips to automate the extraction of nucleic acids from a wide range of sample types. The Ionic FFPE Complete Purification Kit consists of 12 chips and a reagent set with all necessary enzymes and buffers to perform DNA extraction from 48 samples.

Integrated DNA Technologies rhAmpSeq CRISPR Analysis System

Integrated DNA Technologies has launched its rhAmpSeq CRISPR Analysis System, an end-to-end solution for characterizing and quantifying the full array of on- and off-target genome editing events in CRISPR research projects.

The system uses proprietary IDT rhAmpSeq technology, which enables highly accurate amplicon sequencing on Illumina next-generation sequencing platforms. The rhAmpSeq CRISPR Analysis System consists of design and synthesis of a custom rhAmpSeq CRISPR Panel, an efficient library kit, and access to data analysis through a user-friendly interface. Starting from sample, it can provide results in less than a week, IDT said.

It also includes IDT's rhAmpSeq CRISPR Analysis Tool, a cloud-based data analysis pipeline that produces publication-ready graphs and figures. This comprehensive analysis tool is hosted by BlueBee, an Illumina company.

Twist Bioscience NGS Methylation Detection System

Twist Bioscience has launched the Twist NGS Sequencing Methylation Detection system, a sample preparation and target enrichment solution for identifying methylated regions in the human genome.

The system uses EM-seq from New England Biolabs, an enzyme-based alternative to traditional bisulfite sequencing methods that enables preparation of enzymatically converted libraries. The system also includes Twist methylation enhancer, universal blocker and FastHyb, and custom methylation panels that include DNA probes to capture all four potential sequences at a given site: methylated, unmethylated, sense and antisense.

The products can be used in liquid biopsy cancer analysis and epigenetic studies.

New England Biolabs Artic Products for SARS-CoV-2 Sequencing

New England Biolabs has launched three kits based on the Artic Network protocols for multiplexed amplicon-based sequencing of viral RNA: NEBNext Artic SARS-CoV-2 Library Prep Kit and NEBNext ARTIC SARS-CoV-2 FS Library Prep Kit, both for Illumina sequencing; and NEBNext Artic SARS-CoV-2 Companion Kit for Oxford Nanopore Technologies sequencing.

The Artic network is an international research consortium that has developed protocols for the epidemiological monitoring of viral genomes to provide insights into virus evolution and transmission. All three NEBNext Artic SARS-CoV-2 kits yield uniform, ample amplicons from gRNA across a wide copy number range, and use the same RT step for all inputs, NEB said. The two kits for Illumina sequencers provide options for library insert size and downstream sequencing parameters.

Promega LMR MSI Analysis System

Promega has launched its LMR MSI Analysis system, a PCR-based research tool with novel markers for detecting microsatellite instability. The panel consists of eight total markers: four gold-standard markers (BAT-25, BAT-26, MONO-27, and NR-21) and four novel long mononucleotide repeat markers (BAT-52, BAT-56, BAT-59, and BAT-60). According to the company combining these marker sets expands MSI detection ability in difficult samples while maintaining overlap with data gathered using traditional markers. Promega said that the assay has been optimized to enable strong and balanced amplification even from degraded samples such as formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded tissue.

NanoString Technologies Whole Transcriptome Atlas

NanoString Technologies has announced the commercial availability of its Whole Transcriptome Atlas (WTA) for research using human tissue on the GeoMx digital spatial profiler.

The WTA provides an unbiased, spatial view of all protein-coding genes and is designed for next-generation sequencing readout on Illumina sequencers. It works with formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded or fresh frozen samples.

The company also announced that it is launching the WTA for mouse tissue through its GeoMx technology access program.

Guardant Health Guardant Reveal

Guardant Health has launched Guardant Reveal, a blood-based liquid biopsy test for the detection of residual and recurrent disease in cancer patients. Intended initially for the early-stage colorectal cancer space, the assay detects circulating tumor DNA in patients' blood to identify those with residual disease who may benefit most from adjuvant therapy and/or detect the first signs of a recurrence. Results are returned in as little as seven days without the need for a tissue biopsy.

Parse Biosciences Single-Cell Whole Transcriptome Kit

Parse Biosciences, formerly known as Split Biosciences, has launched its Single-Cell Whole Transcriptome kit in North America.

The kit, which requires only basic lab equipment, enables single-cell transcriptomics for up to 100,000 cells or nuclei across 48 samples. Samples can be fixed for up to six months prior to barcoding and sequencing. The method is based on the split-pool ligation-based transcriptome sequencing (SPLiT-seq) method. Customers purchasing the kit will receive access to the Parse computational pipeline, an out-of-the box software tool that can be run locally.
