InstantLabs InstantID Atlantic Blue Crab DNA Verification Test

InstantLabs has launched the InstantID Atlantic Blue Crab DNA verification test to help wholesalers and distributors validate the authenticity of a crab meat sample in approximately two hours. The new test was developed through a partnership with the University of Guelph, and runs on InstantLabs' Hunter Real-Time PCR instrument, as well as other PCR systems, InstantLabs said. It is also the first of several planned seafood species identification assays from the company to help the seafood industry address fraud. InstantLabs said it will develop InstantID tests for snapper, catfish, grouper, and tilapia throughout 2015.
