Great Basin Staph ID/R Blood Culture Panel

Great Basin Scientific has launched its Staph ID/R Blood Culture panel, the company's first mutliplex panel. It is a sample-to-result, automated panel that detects the mecA gene, a major drug resistance marker. The assay can distinguish coagulase-negative Staphylococci from pathogenic Staphylococci, the company said. The panel received FDA clearance earlier this year and more recently received CE-IVD marking.
