Job Description

The Department of Bioethics at the Case Western Reserve University (CWRU) School of Medicine invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor level. The Department has a longstanding history of outstanding research, education, and service. Our nationally- and internationally-recognized faculty have research expertise in genetic research ethics, informed consent, health disparities, stem cell ethics, biobanking, international research ethics, and many other evolving ethics-related research areas. Our MA program is extremely successful, and graduates have gone on to faculty and health care professional positions, as well as jobs in administrative and research capacities. The Department also has an outstanding record of national and university service.


Applicants must possess a terminal degree (PhD, JD, MD, etc.) at the time of appointment.  Candidates must have a record of scholarly activity in Bioethics and the potential to advance in a field of research, preferably genetics, reproductive medicine, regenerative medicine, and/or research ethics.  Candidates should have the interest and ability to submit NIH or NIH-type grant applications. Candidates must also be eager to collaborate with the Department’s multi-disciplinary faculty, and to contribute to the Department’s highly successful teaching programs at the undergraduate, graduate, and medical school levels.
