Job Description

You are an energized and engaging science degree wielding candidate with experience in microbiology/virology and molecular biology/nucleic acid biochemistry.  Ideally you have had some experience involving infectious disease research and/or diagnostic testing, and you love solving problems.  You can engage well in a customer setting and have the communication skills to clearly and succinctly convey complex concepts verbally and in writing. You would relish the opportunity to be responsible for product testing and/or assisting with product development and for handling technical enquiries from customers to ensure their satisfaction in overcoming product use challenges.


Additionally you will:

  • Perform experiments under the direction of DNA Genotek scientists
  • Design, execute and interpret experiments
  • Communicate ideas and participate in scientific discussions
  • Maintains daily records (written and electronic) of work accomplished in the laboratory
  • Prepares written summaries of experimental results
  • Acquire and maintain sufficient product knowledge to be able to respond to customer technical support enquiries
  • Receive and respond to customer enquiries by phone and e-mail and track and document details of customer challenges and resolutions
  • Potentially be required to travel to provide onsite support to customers globally
  • Potentially assist in the preparation of patents arising from DNA Genotek research activities


  • B.Sc. or M.Sc. degree in biology, biochemistry, microbiology, virology and/or cell biology , or an equivalent combination of relevant job experience and training



  • Minimum one (1) year in a laboratory environment or equivalent work experience
  • Previous customer service experience would be an asset
  • Strong analytical and planning skills
  • Laboratory experience in microbiology and molecular biology/nucleic acid biochemistry is required
  • Prior experience involving infectious disease research and/or diagnostic testing is an asset
  • Demonstrated strong problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to clearly and succinctly convey complex concepts verbally and in writing
  • Ability to multitask and work simultaneously on multiple projects with varying levels of overlap

Strong computer and data entry skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
