We are ideally looking for a talented, charismatic, and entrepreneurial individual that likes wearing many roles in a fast pace and challenging work environment.
The candidate should be able to juggle many competing priorities with minimal supervision. He/she should be dynamic and willing to handle inside/outside customer facing situations and champion projects as the needs arise. This position will be initially reporting to the VP of Operations. It is expected that this position will eventually provide direction for IT/Bioinformatics policy within the company.
We have compiled a list of expected roles/ initial assignments the candidate will need to be comfortable managing initially.
Systems Administration - Manage/Install/Configure/Improve Akesogen's internal Network, from Firewall/router, server management, NAS, and personal/instrument computers. - Implement/Manage daily data backups (Instrument data and individual computer backup) - Data Storage/NAS configuration and transfers for long term storage. - Act as LIMS administrator - Network Security and FIPS compliance for Government, HIPAA compliance for CLIA data. - Design/Configure/Install/Migrate email systems into an Akesogen managed solution. - Design/Configure/Install/Manage Secure FTP server - Coordinate with management for LIMS system discovery, onboarding, development and/or implementation. - Clean, organize, and optimize the building's IT related infrastructure to a professional standard. - Manage/oversee Quality management system roles as related to System Administrator's duties. - Produce weekly summary reports for management review.
Data Analysis - Run daily/weekly genotyping analysis using Affy Power tools (APT) or Genotyping console on ~5000 samples. Create reports and manage data transfer for delivery to clients. - Create methods for auditing sample fate and tracking checkpoint data. - Possibly generate clinical reports based on genotyping results, and create a more efficient/compliant data delivery method to Cyto-Geneticist. - Provide data analysis for misc. research services, as required.
Education/Prior Experience Requirements We are flexible on the details, but would typically expect the equivalent of an advance degree or years of direct hands on working experience. Must be fluent in both windows and linux operating environments and scripting. Ideally knows or willing to learn R, NGS freeware tools, SQL (LIMS software), network security and related skillsets to roles listed above. Expected to have worked under minimal supervision previously and able to demonstrate skill sets with previous work experience examples. Must have references willing to discuss technical skill sets.
