Job Description
  • Lead the Strategic Marketing initiative for QIAGEN Services to drive short and long-term revenue growth and profitability. Lead all aspects of development of marketing and commercialization strategies and guide execution through collaboration with the regions. Initiate and cultivate business development partnerships to establish long-term growth opportunities
  • Develop, plan, drive, communicate and monitor worldwide Services marketing strategies (short, long-term and go-to-market strategies) and with clearly defined goals, objectives, commercialization tactics, critical success factors, timelines, budgets and action items to drive revenue growth in the target market segments


  • Drive execution of strategy with support from Global Product Management and regions. Define commercial marketing plans including: website refinement, e-marketing campaigns, printed brochures, sales tools, press releases, customer appreciation programs and public relations to meet business objectives, deadlines and budget


  • Confirm/Initiate market research, situation analysis, product/technology positioning and elements of marketing mix (product, price, promotion, distribution) to create competitive advantages. Lead development of:


  1. Product/technology value proposition


  2. KPIs


  3. Campaigns / themes and support tools for trade shows and conferences


  4. Competitor analysis and recommendations for strategic counter tactics


  • Optimize use of sales channels including direct, distribution, electronic or non-sales force dependent alternatives to drive market share gains


  • Identify market opportunities through developing and understanding market and competitor trends, customer needs and wants and technology trends. Direct and manage inputs into the strategic roadmap including situation analysis, SWOT, product/technology positioning, market size, customer segmentation, and pricing as appropriate


  • Drive portfolio to meet and exceed business targets


  • Collaborate with product management and COEs to define/communicate segment-specific product or workflow value proposition, positioning and marketing communications messaging, and promotional tactics to maximize product portfolio revenue. Use input from customer needs and competitive landscape


  • Ensure internal and external product and market training objectives are met. Review and ensure learning objectives, agendas, and content are aligned with short and long-term marketing strategies. Develop and deliver training and presentations about Strategic Initiatives to Regions, CPs and/or internal staff


  • Network with CommOps, Commercial Partners and customers to understand needs/motivators to use for developing the most effective strategies. Collaborate with sales management to plan and coordinate product/technology commercialization efforts aligned with marketing strategies


  • Identify, assess and implement strategic collaborations and/or joint business activities to achieve revenue targets. Create long-term growth opportunities and execute business or marketing strategies


  • Support commercialization strategy by attending industry trainings, workshops, conference, focus groups and other events
  • Bachelor of Science in life science field


  • 5 or more years' experience in global product and/or marketing management, experience with a portfolio of life science products. 3 of the 5 years' experience is required to be direct, hands on experience working in the NGS and Discovery Informatics/BioX market or product areas


  • Ability to successfully create and implement strategic marketing plans for QIAGEN’s Service product portfolios


  • In-depth understanding of the marketing functions including strategic and tactical marketing, marketing communications, market research, product management, distribution channels, competitive intelligence and customer relationship management


  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to present high-level information for multiple audiences based on analysis and facts


  • Demonstrate sound judgment, ability to analyze issues, think strategically, creatively and use innovative ideas. Display exceptional problem solving, analytical decision-making, conflict management, change management and negotiation skills


  • Ability to effectively develop trust, respect and cooperation with internal and external stakeholders and strategic partners


  • In-depth understanding of marketing functions including strategic and tactical marketing, marketing communications, market research, product management, distribution channels, competitive intelligence and customer relationship management


  • Proficient in Windows PC based environment and MS Office


  • Strong public speaking skills needed to represent QIAGEN at external meetings, conferences and organizations. Able to present high level information for multiple audiences based on analysis and facts


  • Demonstrated ability to work on multiple detailed projects and assignments simultaneously and independently
