A laboratory specializing in gene regulation and chromatin structure is seeking a motivated scientist to drive projects involving structure / function relationships in developing hematopoietic cells. The position will require optimization and application of multiple molecular techniques to small numbers of primary cells followed by genome-wide analysis.
The Staff Scientist will take the lead on projects related to transcriptional regulation and chromatin structure during hematopoietic cell differentiation. This will involve devising and implementing the scientific approach as well as optimizing and applying a wide range of routine and single cell techniques. Responsibilities include working independently under a Principal Investigator while collaborating closely with others within the group on shared projects. Careful record keeping and summarizing data for presentations are required. The position also includes some supervisory duties of a research technician.
- Performing and analyzing ChIP-Seq, RNA-Seq and other NGS related techniques.
- Generating, confirming and analyzing targeted mutations and knock-ins.
- Basic molecular biology cloning techniques, PCR and sequencing,
- Quantitative Real Time PCR.
- Experience with primary and / or other complex cell culture systems
- Experience performing in-depth bio-informatics with limited assistance.
- Experience with protein biochemistry.
- DNA and RNA FISH experience.
- Microscopy skills
- Antibody staining and Flow cytometry (both analytical and sorting)
- Experience with hematopoietic culture (both in solution and in methylcellulose)
- Murine breeding, blood and tail sampling, dissection and preparation of samples from isolated organs.
Doctorate degree or equivalent experience in a related field with experience working in a research environment, and in a supervisory capacity. A documented ability to work independently. Excellent communication, computer, documentation and project management skills.
