Job Description

We are seeking to recruit a Staff Scientist to join the Birney Research group at the European Bioinformatics Institute (EMBL-EBI) located at the Wellcome Genome Campus near Cambridge in the UK.

The Birney Research group focuses on a broad range of genomics, genetic algorithms and data discovery methods. We are looking for a genomics expert with strong bioinformatics skills to provide joint leadership to the research group. You will have extensive experience in genomics and will possess a curious, open mind toward novel approaches in genetics and genomics.


You will have a PhD in biological science, or in another science and will have more than 5 years’ experience in computational biology. You will also possess a clear research drive. Experience in bioinformatics and genome-wide biological data analysis is required as is the ability to manage research individuals. A track record of publications is essential.
