Job Description

Sequenom has an exciting opportunity open for a Sr. Director of Marketing who will be responsible for developing and directing short and long term marketing and product strategies to support corporate objectives and secure customer satisfaction to ensure long term account retention, stability of core business bases and new product growth.  This role reports directly to the VP, Diagnostics Commercial Operations and will play a lead role in leading marketing efforts for our prenatal product lines. Responsibilities:

  • Directs the development of strategic marketing programs to enhance current market positions in key product categories
  • Directs the creation of effective branding and product messaging campaigns
  • Directs  the management of marketing plans to meet both current and future product line sales objectives
  • Assures the development and execution of effective tradeshow, seminar and promotional activities
  • Directs market development activity, including the development of key opinion leaders, speakers and advocacy relationships
  • Evaluates potential new products for market size, acceptance and directional focus in conjunction with Commercialization, Business Development and Sales Management
  • Provides input to senior management and participates in defining strategic direction
  • Establishes annual strategic and operating plans for the department, including sales forecasts as assigned
  • Sets and monitors annual employee goals for the department
  • Attracts, motivates, retains and develops Marketing department staff to ensure required expertise and skills to meet organizational needs
  • Manages staff including recruiting, hiring, motivating, performance management, training and development
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Life Sciences or Marketing. MBA or equivalent preferred
  • Minimum 15+ years progressive marketing management experience, preferably within the diagnostic industry (prenatal, NIPT, oncology experience highly preferred)
  • Experience selling or marketing regulated products
  • Extensive knowledge of health care markets, prenatal experience required
  • Ability to successfully direct and manage a marketing team to achieve corporate goals
  • Skilled at branding and messaging
  • Ability to direct the development of effective marketing campaigns, sales collateral and sales training programs
  • Ability to develop, negotiate and manage customer collaborations with key opinion leaders and bring Voice of the Customer internally to drive marketing and R&D efforts
  • Outstanding business and scientific presentation skills
