Position Description
Berkeley Lights is seeking an exceptional candidate for the position of Single Cell Genomics Scientist to join an interdisciplinary R&D development team at the company’s headquarters in Emeryville.

As a key member of the R&D Life Sciences team, you will develop new and novel sample prep methodologies for precious single cell isolation, sample preparation and sequencing on rapidly evolving technology platforms developed by Berkeley Lights. This new role requires a technologically enabled cell/molecular biologist with a strong background in sample preparation for sequencing as well as practical bio-informatics. The ideal candidate is a creative and productive scientist who will take ownership for achieving results in biology and technology development programs.


Desired Skills & Experience

• PhD in Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Bioinformatics or related field.
• Recent PhD or Post Doc, 1-2 years of relevant experience in a research or industry position
• Exposure to microfluidic platforms and methods applied to single cell sample prep for next gen sequencing
• Experience designing and testing novel sample prep/ library generation methods
• Proven ability to implement bio-informatic pipelines for processing and interpreting sequence data
• Experience with Bar-coding strategies for sequencing

• Excel in technology development with demanding schedules and deliverables
• Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
 to clearly articulate ideas
• Excellent collaboration and interpersonal skills to work well with scientists and engineers having widely divergent backgrounds
• Experienced and confidant in a fast paced start-up work environment
