Design and implement protocols for commercial products that support Fluidigm single cell microfluidic chip and instrument platforms.
Develop and optimize protocols for multiplexed DNA and RNA sequencing library generation.
Work with a multidisciplinary team to develop new assays and reagent kits for sample preparation applicable to next generation sequencing platforms.
Establish and validate tests to assess complete system performance.
Reagent resourcing, experimental design and analysis, assay proof-of-concept and characterization.
Analyze and present data internally and to the outside scientific community.
PhD in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry or Chemistry with five years experience or Master’s degree in equivalent majors with five to eight years experience required.
Experience in quantitative assay development related to molecular biology and genomics.
Broad experience in standard molecular biology techniques including DNA sample preparation and PCR required.
Hands-on experience in sample preparation for next generation sequencing or microarray platforms preferred. Hands-on experience with Roche (454), Illumina MiSeq and HiSeq, AB (SOLID) or Helicos sequencing platforms desirable.
Experience in bioinformatics and statistical data analysis a plus.
